Why we're updating the cancellation policies.

We're updating the cancellation policies, and we want Hosts to understand why more flexible cancellation policies help everyone.

A significant majority of Hosts choose not to enforce their policy in order to accommodate their Guests, be flexible in emergency situations and show a gesture of goodwill that’s good for business.

We've heard from Guests that they're hesitant to book because of restrictive or unclear policies. These updates make Guests more likely to book and book longer stays.

Providing more flexibility helps Guests and in return helps you. Even with these updates, you'll be able to offer a comparable policy that still helps Guests.

What does this mean for you?

Your policy will update automatically. You don’t have to opt into it again.

You can update your policy type at any point in time, but you will be notified via email once the new policy types are live.

Flexible Guests can receive a full refund (minus any service fees) if they cancel at least 4 days prior to the start date of the Vacay, and 50% if they cancel thereafter. Flexible

Guests will be charged for 50% of the booking total, up to $50, if they cancel after that time.

Guests can receive a full refund (minus any service fees) if they cancel 3 days prior to the Vacay start date.

Guests will be charged for 50% of the booking total, up to $50, if they cancel after that time.

For example, a Vacay that begins on Thursday must be canceled by Monday.

Strict There are no refunds after the booking is accepted, except when determined by DogVacay in unusual circumstances. Strict

Guests can receive a full refund (minus any service fees) if they cancel 7 days prior to the Vacay start date.

Guests will be charged for 50% of the booking total, up to $50, if they cancel after that time.

For example, a Vacay that begins on Thursday must be canceled by Thursday the previous week.

 

It's important to note that when enforcing your cancellation policy with the new policies, a Guest will be charged for 50% of the booking total, up to a maximum of $50.

For example:

  • If a $30 booking is canceled one day before the Vacay start date and the Host has a Moderate policy, the Guest would be refunded $15.
  • If a $200 booking is canceled one day before the Vacay start date and the Host has a Moderate policy, the Guest would only be charged $50 and would be refunded $150.

In addition, the Host service fee is still processed from either the remaining 50% or $50.

Vacays canceled after the new policies are implemented will be canceled according to the new cancellation policy details, not according to the policy details at the time they were booked.
